I have this website that i use to market various products on the web.
www.bonienterprises.com
I am considering overhauling it especially the landing page. Please give me feedback as to what looks good or what should go, or just what you feel about the site..

i'm not trying to be an ass, but i think that your site needs a full design revamp.

create a new layout, then post here again to get advice on fixing it up.

also, you should try to fix your html (http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bonienterprises.com%2F) and css (http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bonienterprises.com%2F) errors.

also, look out for pixelated (low quality) images - like the logo... this give a very unprofessional look.

i'd try to avoid the red/maroon text too. the links are okay to be red, but most people expect black/grey text. it's weird seeing red text.

good luck with it.

one more thing - i'd make the navigation more 'revealing' of where the user is. change the color of the corresponding link when the user goes to different pages. with the 'domain/hosting' link green like that, i thought that i was on that page the entire time.

Thanks for your feedback. I am still somewhat unsure how to read the errors, then find and correct them. I edit with Front Page

i think your site it`s great. seems liek there are some design elements missing from your home page. I would add something under menu on home page. Also in top right corner there is this unused space. Try to get rid of those. And im sure your site will be more attractive to users.
another thing: you have a lot of copy on the site: ppl wil never read this . after 5 secs they will loose interest in the text.

try to change font or add more pics. you site does give you a cheap look:( don`t be upset. i have my own site that has tons of issues too.

start by adding a doctype (http://www.alistapart.com/articles/doctype/). i recommend HTML 4.01 Strict. then the errors should be more clear when you validate.

i completely disagree. you shouldn't be afraid of whitespace. actually, many design books you'll read suggest your site to be almost 80% whitespace. whitespace is your friend (http://www.alistapart.com/articles/whitespace). (just look at the layout of the A List Apart site - it's a gorgeous, simple and pleasing layout - take notice to how much whitespace they use)

It is very busy. Think about the message that the user will come away with. Users usually can (or want to) grasp only a few concepts. From a graphic design standpoint, I really think the site needs a focal point. Something that will grab my attention and then deliver a message about what you do. This can be achieved with a graphic or text, Large text. Since all of the text on your site is about the same size, none of it stands out. Go to amazon.com. Your eye will go directly to what they want you to look at. Most likely a product or service they are pushing above the rest.
