Hi

I am having a problem installing a firewall (Zone Alarm Pro)

I get this error message that pops up (I have Windows XP)

"Could not locate the DLL library \vsutil.dll (VSetProtection) The specified procedure could not be found"

After researching it I think installing "Registry Repair" software is what I need.

Can anyone give me a recommendation as to what is the best registry fix software?

I've tried downloading trial versions but they hugely different results so I have no idea how to choose. (& you can't fix them till you buy the license)

Registry Fix found 447 errors.
Registry Easy found 1204 errors.

Thanks!

Uninstall Zone Alarm Pro, restart computer, then re-install Zone Alarm Pro.
If you still have problems contact Zone Alarm.

I would not trust these registry "Fixers" or "Repair" routines, more often than not theirs nothing wrong with your registry and the errors they point to are old files you have un-installed or refer to older versions of software updates.

At the end of the day these errors are used as a marketing ploy to sell you a product that you don't need.

I certainly do not trust these programs, never have used them and if you do, watch out as any errors that they make can end up rendering your OS useless and if you read the small print, they do not take any liability for using their software.

Hi and boy am I glad I asked! I'll reinstall Zone Alarm.

The reason I've asked the question here is that Zone Alarm makes it all but impossible to ask a question (after the sale of course). Their web site directs you elsewhere - you can't send an email - the phone calls are for cash only..........

Really p***** me off, but I guess that's the wave of the future.

Thaks for your advise.
