Any pointers on the following most welcome - thanks.

I'm about to redesign the website for a popular magazine for creative writers called Mslexia www.mslexia.co.uk (http://www.mslexia.co.uk)), and wanted to get some recommendations on a digital format that will enable the company to sell an 'e-format' version of the mag - especially to US customers who may not want to pay the high-price postage to receive the British print magazine.

Recommend a locked pdf e-book?

Issues:
There's an issue about selling pdfs for print-out - presumably punters don't want to be spending as much again on their printer-ink costs. Is there a practice of including a version with images and heavy print for online viewing, and including a printable version for desktop printers?

Conversion issue: needs to be as easy and quick to convert from Indesign docs as poss. I can see the cut&paste method is probably the most likely if the digital version must be converted for print…

How much to charge?
Does anyone have any idea about what to charge for a digital version of the mag - a percentage of the print mag cover price?

I'd give the customer the option of choosing the format. Have a plain-text-only version that is printer-friendly (PDF). Then, have the flashy image-laden/colorful version in HTML format.

BTW -- We can't discuss pricing here. I suggest you look at your competitors and see what they charge. That will give you a fair market value for the service.

Hmm, html format
There's not a quick-and-easy and moreover cheap recipe for this… might have to be a simple full-colour pdf version of the mag
