Hi,

Opinions would be appreciated - my clients (my wife and daughter ;) ) like the small flash intro to the site we've put together (http://www.babyflairhairwear.com), thinking that it's "cutsey" and fits the theme. On the other hand, there seems to be a school of thought that is dead set against flash on the entry page. Should we:

Keep it?
Lose it?
Have it play a lesser role and add some descriptive text about the site?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I didn't find the flash that annoying but in general the splash pages are a thing in the past. They rarely add any value to the user, it is just time/clicks wasted.

it is kinda nice though... normally i'd say get rid of it, but if you can make it functional, you can use it to your advantage. Maybe you can use your main navigation in it somewhere. When the user would hover over each product type, you can show images of the products... you know? Then the user immediately knows what the site is, what it does, and know exactly where to go when they get there. I'd stop it from automatically going to the home page, and let the user decide where they want to go.

This would eliminated the wasting of time for no apparent reason.

You know what I'm getting at? Did I explain that well enough?

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I'm thinking I might move the little butterfly/baby's head animation to the home page and scrap the entire front page. I'm hoping that'll keep everyone satisfied.

Thanks again.

That should be fine - i think that's a good idea. Good luck with everything.
