Database Help!!

I am trying to figure out a way for the viewers of my website to upload content and be able to search and download that content as well. The content that is uploaded needs to be categorized and searched by those categories. I think that this would require a database, but I'm not sure how to write any of the code. I need some serious step-by-step help. I am using Dreamweaver and hosting the page free using xtreemhost.com.

first things first, what services does your host provide? Do they offer PHP and MySQL?

I am having the same problem. Mine is a little different in that what I am creating will need to be accessed by multiple users, but I'm just as clueless as to what to do! It's more an issue of not even knowing where to start, or where to go to start, than anything.
