After about 5 weeks of tinkering around, I have finally finish my website. I have ran it against several validators for both html and css and everything has passed. I have tested it on IE 7 (still trying to find some machines with IE5 & 6), Firefox, Safari (Windows), and Opera.

Opera had some problems with an accordion javascript and not rendering the page correctly (i.e. the accordion would expand, but you would have to switch to a different application and switch back to see the changes).

The site uses quit a bit of javascript, both synchronous and asynch, so if you have it disabled, everything will look wierd.

This is a personal website, so i dont expect much traffic, but I prefer to do things the right...so if you have any comments/suggestions, please feel free...i'm not the type to take things personally.

You can find my site at: http://www.lambandtunafish.com/ (http://www.lambandtunafish.com/)

Thanks!

I had an instant feeling I'd seen that template before and I was right. You did clear it up on the About page but I still feel you could have done some more modifications (even with just colour) to make it less obvious.

Btw. the header image drops out if you increase text size.

I didn't change the colors up because I like the unsleepable look (hence the reference in the about page)...I just removed the extra columns since I simply dont need them

As for the header image dropping when you increase text size..Are you referring to increasing the text size by with the browser?

I suppose that using px or pt for font size would resolve this problem?

I never thought to check what would happen if i changed the font size...thanks for pointing that out.

I just noticed that if you increase the text size several times...the whole layout goes to ****.

Would you advise sticking to strict font sizes and margins i.e. replace em with pt/px? or should I just leave things the way they are?

I realized that using explicit px for font size doesnt matter, the browser will still increase/decrease the fonts...however, I did use absolute pixel sizes for the widths, so the problem you mentioned has been fixed.

thanks!

you gotta check it out in IE6 too... the header is kinda a mess in IE6, but it still works.

Tredosoft's multiple-ie (http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE) will allow you to install many versions of IE.

yea, someone else pointed me to this link in response to the same problem.

After checking this out...I am stuck wondering which versions of IE I should test and fix problems with. Eventually there is a point of limited returns on my time...so should I just focus on IE 6, or should I also include 5 & 5.5? what about IE 3 & IE4?

Same thing goes for firefox

I focus on IE6 and IE7, Firefox, and Safari...

IE 5.5 doesn't really matter, because only about 1% (or less) of the population uses it... so I don't think it's worth the time to worry about... that's my opinion. plus, if someone is still using IE5.5, they should be used to seeing broken websites.
