minimize postition problems

I am creating my first page with css and I am having problems with my nav menu adjusting from maximize to minimize. My last link which is called
"Band Sign Up" look like that when the window is in max but when it is in min it looks like this Band . How do I get it to stop doing that?

P.s. I'm using a menu with div, ul, and li. It has background and hover bakground.

I figured it out I had to set a width size in my .css for my background and now it doesn't do it anymore amazing what 2 hours of playing around will do once you move on from the problem
