Hello everyone.

I am new to this forum, so I hope I am placing this question in the right place.

Under WinXP, Whenever a new window opens up, I have to double click somewhere on the window (anywhere) so the window sees my mouse pointer. Otherwise nothing get highlighted, no mouse hand, no focus at all until I double click. It gets very tiresome. Any inputs is appreciated.

A clarification. By new window I mean a new IE page. I noticed this only happens on IE. In Mozilla everything is ok.

Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't help you.... I've never heard of this before.

I just wanted to let you know that I and other users here are listening to your question, and it should be answered eventually....

If you tell us the IE version, that may help.... Have you upgraded it to 7, or is it the XP-Default 6?

Thanks for response.

It is IE7 on XP SP2. I understand this is a strange one, but very annoying as well. It started couple month ago(I know. What did you added or installed. I really can't remember) .I thought it might be one the Ad-ons that is taking the focus away from the new window(IE), so I disable most of them with no help.

Any inputs is appriciated.

Is there a way to start Internet Explorer in "Safe Mode"?

Well, not that I know of.... Maybe you can search for that... start Internet Explorer in safe mode.

Or, for a start, start Windows in Safe Mode and then try it.

I think if you press and hold F8 as you start up your computer (Immediately after you press the button, BEFORE it starts to load Windows), it'll give you the option to start in Safe Mode, With Network, or something like that. Try starting Windows in Safe Mode and see if IE will then work right. If it still doesn't, than search starting IE in safe mode.

Well, it seems this focus problem got solved(knocking on wood) by updating and running Spybot search&destroy again. It found a cookie/ Spyware named "callback" which apparently tracks computer activity . It only found the cookie after update. Glad to be back to the sane world (for now).

Thanks.
