[RESOLVED] DIV height dependent on content

Ok so I'm working with a WordPress theme and I've changed some stuff on it to make it work with my own design, but I'm having a couple problems. I want the size of the DIV containing the main content to lengthen depending on the amount of content in the DIV, and I also have a sidebar to the right that is supposed to lengthen too. I can get it do this as long as I don't float both the main content DIV and the sidebar, but if I don't float these elements then the sidebar just ends up going right under the main content and not off to the right where it is supposed to be. Floating the columns is the way to do it, but those floats must be "cleared" if you want the #main div containing the column background to surround the floats. As you have the footer below the floats, this can be used to clear them :#mainBody {width: 483px; float: left;}
#sidebar {width: 217px; float: right;}
#footer {width: 700px; height: 95px; background: black url('images/main/footerBg.jpg') repeat-x; clear: both;}
