It's my understanding that first posts are manually approved, as my earlier thread has not appeared on the forum yet. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if there was a problem. I suppose, if I don't see this thread, then it's normal. And if this thread appears, but the other does not, then there is a problem.

In any case, this delay is awkward and no doubt results in confusion, multiple posts, new posters giving up on the forum, etc. If the issue is protecting against spam, I recommend instead using a script that prevents links or images until # posts are made. I haven't received a single spam post since I added a script like this to my forum.

Yes, that's the thread. I'm glad to see it online now. The thread did not appear (to me) earlier. My post count also does not seem to include that 1st post.

But yours did include a link. We generally get to them in a few minutes, depending on when they're posted. We have mods in several time zones, so there's usually someone on, but we can't guarantee there's a mod on 24/7.

Except for an hour or two+ during lunchtime (10:30-ish to maybe 1PM-ish), and again in the early evening for a couple of hours, I am here from 7:30am until maybe 8pm or later, EST, weekdays. :D I have a bad habit though of opening new windows and leaving an existing window 'connected', so it may appear that I am resident & present when in fact, I may actually be doing some work... :eek:

I'm not on as often as Joel, but I do jump on frequently but just for short period of time. Usually when I get on though someone has beat me to it :)

So to answer your question, shouldn't take that long, but how long is a piece of string?

That's easy. It's exactly as long as stringName.length;

Not the last - I don't have one, either. I also don't have a modern TV - I still use my college TV - ca. 1990, 17" with only 47 channels!

we should get married and have lots of little Quakers . :D
I actually did own a cell phone for a few years, when I was a full-time working class musician and traveling all over the tri-state area at all hours. Strictly for emergencies, of course. But as soon as I moved into Manhattan and ditched the car, I ditched the phone.
