Firefox Options

So, I used to use Avant Browser before I recently switched over to Firefox (primarily for the WebDeveloper and SeoQuake plugins).

But there are several things that Avant did that Firefox [seemingly] doesn't.

Here's what I miss:

URL Alias - you could set up URL shortcuts, for example, I could type 'wd' in the address bar, and it would go to http://www.webdeveloper.com

Mouse Stroke Shortcuts - there were tons of these, and they were customizable. my favorite - holding the right mouse button and pulling the mouse to the left would act as clicking the 'back' button. this was great. i miss it.

Clear Records on Close - you can pick which files would be removed when closing the browser. anything from typed addresses to cookies.


Does anyone know if any of these options are available with Firefox? Maybe with plugins?

URL Alias: no idea
Mouse Stroke Shortcuts: there is a plugin for this, don't know it's name though
Clear Records on Close: go tools>prefs, or on linux edit>prefs, then on the privacy tab click "clear info on exit" and make sure always ask is ticked, then click the clear private data button near by to set the prefs, untick the "ask before clearing data" again to save weird pop-ups when you quit.

Everything you asked about I ams ure Fx supports with extentions. I have two of the things you asked about, and seemingly know of the third.

No problem. Just right click on the webdeveloper.com link in your bookmarks, click on "Properties" and enter a Keyword, e.g., "wd". Then, when you type "wd" (w/o quotes) in the address bar, you'll be here!

Mouse gestures can be done using an extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/39).

As to privacy, go to "File >> Options >> Privacy" and then "Privacy data". You can set it all right there!
