(Sorry, don't know if this is the best place to post this.)

Can anyone help me? I've recently set up a sub-domain on my site. It's working fine. However, I want to use a separate domain name to point to this so that to everyone else it just looks like a normal site (and not a sub-domain). So, instead of (for example) http://newdomain.olddomain.com, I just get http://newdomain.com.

So far so good. I've set all this up using the control panel on my site, but the new domain name won't resolve to the subdomain. In fact, I just get a page not found error.

Now this is the strange part. The site works for the people who host it. Also, they have directed me to the surfola site that tests urls from a number of different ISPs and it works there too.

So, I guess it's either something to do with my internet settings or with my ISP. I've tried clearing my cache and using another browser, but neither have resolved the problem.

Any ideas, anyone?

Well, since I posted this the problem seems to have resolved itself. Sorry!

For anyone else experiencing this problem, it seems that the most probable explanation is that it takes time for a new domain to propagate across all ISPs (i.e. 72hrs).

Doh!
