"requiredfrom" script problem-URGENT [Archive]

Hi - I initially used the following script to prevent nonpaying visitors from getting to a quiz. I was thinking it would only allow them to come from the PayPal site...however...since they were actually coming from the final page of their transaction...the "requiredfrom" script didn't work. I deleted the script and and now using a J-bot that works great - except for one thing. The old 'requiredfrom' script is still there somewhere???? and is overriding my good script. UGH. I know this is confusing...but I hope you can figure out how to help me. Here is the original script I used followed by my revised "paypal" script. Thanks for your help. - Pam :confused:

Thank you. I know they work fine...but I don't want them on my page anymore. Here is the problem:
I am designing this page for someone else who wanted visitors to her site to not be able to bypass paying for a quiz via PayPal. SO - we tried using the scripts I shared with you. BUT - we didn't like they way they worked.
We found a script we liked better.
So we deleted the old one and put in the new one (which is a J-Bot component).
BUT - the old one is somehow "overriding" the new one.
It is as if the old script is still running somewhere - and maybe it attached itself to the "click here to continue" link on the PalPal end of transaction page.
Does that make sense?

Perhaps I need to contact PayPal.

paypal may be able to help you but i dont think they will, you best bet in my opinion is to post the coding of this page onto this thread then me and others can look at it and hopefully tell you the problem

Here is the code in the pages that are acting strange. Even in my FrontPage program - when I close this page I get:

Runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?
Line:296 Error:Permission denied.

I am very confused by this.

right ok i see so the quiz opens in a new window, is the user meant to have paid by now?

Yes - they come to this page from a paypal link. Then when they click on the Link that closes this window - the Quiz opens in a new window. Then they are returned to a different window to prevent viewing the URL of the quiz launch page.
Does that make sense?

Yes - AND - the popup window with the quiz in it opens as the containing page unloads or closes...so I have them click on the link (name of the quiz) in order to close the containing window and open the popup. The link they click on is actually another page in the site so that they don't have time to write down the URL of the containing page and access it without paying.
Does that make sense?
I know it is confusing...but we think it works pretty slick. (Well - at least for the first two quizzes.) When it didn't work for the third one - I quickly removed the paypal button fromt the last four quizzes.)

here ive made a few tweaks check it out

the quiz opens when clicking the link it also works if accidently closes the browser, well the quiz doesnt actually open because the address is not setup

but try this

Looks like it will work. Do you think the student will still be getting the Script error message? It is causing problems with people's browsers. Here is the error:
A Script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort this sript?

I looked at the source code...should I leave the J-bot script in the code? Did you tweak the J-bot source code? Can I just use YOUR code without the J-bot code?

The code below is a "clean" page - with NO J-bots. It gives no errors.

What I need to do )instead of just a link to the quiz) is open the quiz in a separate window with no URL and keep the Clock Countdown ability.
Then - when they close the quiz - return them to a specific page.

The students don't need the frustration of error messages and premature quiz shutdowns!

If you can suggest a way for me to do this - simple and clean - I would sure be most grateful.

Hi - the Quiz program people are encouraging me to put my quizzes in the .asp format rather than the .js format - because the quiz takes so long to load and is causing errors when people try to access them.

I don't know enough about this to know how to do it. They told me just to choose the .asp format within their quiz builder program. But then - with these scripts work?

I am confused.
