I use Paint Shop Pro (I can't afford Photoshop) and was looking at this program for helping design banners, etc.
Has anyone used it, is it good?

I haven't used this particular program, but have used other Corel Products (Paint, Draw, etc.) and have found them comparable to Photoshop. Actually, I thought them more user-friendly. :)

Thanks. I do like Corel's line. I just hate to spend the $$, if it doesn't really help/work. Maybe I look on the net for free programs. I'd love for photoshop, but way too much $$$.
Have you tried GIMP? http://www.gimp.org/

Animation Shop used to come with Paint Shop Pro when JASC had it. Have used it a few times, but I don't usually do animations these days - seems to work fine for doing this, though.

Whilst I do have access to Photoshop, I prefer to do any web graphics manipulation with Paint Shop Pro - it just seems more logical and is easier / quicker to use.

I have and use PaintPro 8, by JASC (before being bought-out by COREL). I like it alot. There are things you can do in PaintPro that I do not think are available in PhotoShop (but I'm probably wrong about that... PhotoShop is pretty awesome).
PhotoShop is more 'for photos, and it does web-graphics' my professor used to say, while PaintPro is 'more for web-graphics and it does photographs'. Just his opinion.
I like layering multiple images overtop of each other and selectively chosing each 'layer', use the ERASER tool to 'erase' sections of that layer to reveal the layer *underneith*... then, go to next downward layer and ERASE parts of it and reveal the layer *underneith* it, and so~forth. -You can make some awesome collages that way.
We did the same thing in PhotoShop but I remembered it being more difficult to do than in PaintPro. jmo
PaintPro's user-icons are not as intuitive as PhotoShop's, though... I have been using PaintPro over some 5+ years and sometimes I still have to sit here and scratch my head trying to recall what this button is for, or where did this~ go, etc...
PaintPro uses something totally awesome, -called "picturetubes". I create my own.. :) It's like a resizeable rubber-stamp of graphical images... Thousands are available but I like making my own.

I GimpShop not very similar to Photoshop? Is it missing much?
I use PaintShop Pro 7 and occasionally Gimp.

I think the premise behind "GimpShop" is "GIMP" made to have interface & user tools similar to native PhotoShop. I have it, used it, didn't really find it any more intuitive or different really. I didn't spend much time studying it though...

Thanks for all the replies! But after going through my PaintShop Pro and a book I have on the program. I decided to stick with Paintshop. I love the picture tubes. I don't have much experience with Photoshop, but it is a good program, just too much money.

Hard to believe they are selling a $179 value program for $19! They did this once before last year and I bought it. Caused me to upgrade to Xara Xtreme. LOL

Hmm, I watched their little video and I'm pretty impressed. Would you say its $20 better then inkscape?

Since I've never used Inkscape, it's hard to say. If you have, then Xara's speed is claimed by Xara to be much, much faster than Illustrator and a few other popular graphics programs. Ans Inkscape says with "capabilities similar to Illustrator".
