I was wondering, those of you who do web design/development professionally, where do you advertise your services?

Someone suggested I advertise on a listing like CL, but that resulted in some very strange responses! But I really have no clue where to put myself. So far word of mouth has been my best friend, that can only last so long though...

Any suggestions?

(I apologize in advance if I posted this in the wrong section, I wasn't sure...)

Thanks!

if you are having your own website from where you are selling softwares then you can submit it to search engines, it is a great source of traffic.

Google is my best friend. Other than that and referrals from current clients, my small, free Yellow Pages ad is the only form of advertising I use.

I stay busy enough that I don't need to advertise anywhere else.

A good option for local marketing is networking - see if your chamber of commerce has monthly "business after hours"-type networking events. These events can be great opportunities to meet people in need of your services, and to establish yourself as a local "expert".

As for the google thing, oh yes...I'm all over that, but I'm still "not currently indexed" and have submitted a site map and blah blah blah.

I guess my patience cup is empty. :(

Start a professional blog using one of the usuals - blogger, wordpress, etc. - and link between it & your site. Seach engines tend to pick up blog content done through these services very quickly (vs. the "I made my website look like a blog, but didn't use a blog service" blog).

Why not post your URL here and get some SEO advice?

Okay, I did some homework and more homework, and then a little more. I think I have done an "okay" job but I'd love it if I could get more advice on this SEO subject.

Here is my link www.sidekickwebdesign.com (http://www.sidekickwebdesign.com)

I am indexed now, and I have been watching my google info closely. But like I said, any info is appreciated. Thanks you all!
