Would anyone mind giving me some advice on either programs or 'for hire' designers to help create a company logo? My artistic abilities are nill. I was still drawing stick legs on animals into my late teens.

Thanks.

I am just dipping into web developing. Truth is, I am still in the learning stage. I do though have some graphic design or logo experience if you need my help. What are you working with? What concept did you have in mind? What kind of company is it? Let me know.

I have a local billiard room and am wanting to build a web presence for billiard supplies. I am a dealer for a few wholesalers already, and with those relationships am sure I could compete with any of the existing stores.

Billiards shouldn't be a difficult theme to create a decent logo, but again, I have the least amount of artistic abilities of anyone I know.

Thanks for help. Let me know any more details about your offer.

What information do you need? You can post here or do you prefer a pm?

Sorry, no advertising for business here. Please handle this through PM or personal email.

If your looking for a program, use a vector graphics program to create the logos. I use Inkscape, but theres others like Xara and Adobe Illustrator that offer slightly more robust feature sets. There are tutorials all over the web for creating catchy, identifiable logos. If you need some help designing one, I'd be glad to help you. My avatar on these forums is part of a logo I designed for a company that makes medical scanners (the first logo I ever designed actually). I'm not selling myself, just saying I'll help get you on the right path to doing this for yourself.

A general rule of thumb is to keep in simple and start with black and white.

By starting with black and white you can focus on the shape of the design.. and you'll always know it works in black and white. As stated before you will want to use a vector program.

A tremendous resource for logo design can be found on http://www.davidairey.com/

cadlewv - Matt's exactly right. I've been a professional graphic designer for a long time and the best logo advice is to start out in black and white. Also, stay away from gradients as they end up looking horrible when you print them in black and white, and make sure that whatever graphic you end up with will reduce nicely. Often logos look great when they are presented to you but they aren't even recognizable when they are reduced down to print on a pen or a business check. - By the way "Go Mountaineers"

TJ111- How do you get your signature to show up? I have read the "how to" on how to set up a sig on this forum, but I don't have the option under my profile.

At the top of this page, click the "Quick Links" link, then click on "Edit Signature". Type your signature in, save it, and it should show up.
