I just finished building a computer for my parents. i used an intel mother board as my base. i installed all the bios drivers, windows xp home and all the other drivers for all the other hardware.

I got the computer up and running in no time and all things going smoothly, however when i go to the start menue and try to shut down, windows goes through all of the normal shut down steps, however once it is done shutting down, all my fans stay on and continue to run for aprox 20-30 seconds, then finally shut off, then about 2-5 seconds later the computer proceedes to reboot it self and start up all over again.

it kind of acts like im doing a restart but im not, any way to fix this?

Check the power settings in the bios and see what circumstances can cause a power on. I would disable all of them if not needed.

Otherwise, it may be that your connection to the motherboard for the power button may not be seated right.
