Spanish text changes when posted to web site

When I create a web page in Dreamweaver in Spanish and posted it to the web, the characters change on the website and it doesn't look like what I originally typed. How can this be prevented. I am using IE as the browser.

on sure fire way to make sure those special charactors stay in place are to use the coded version...
