Can anyone recommend a good tutorial online (for a novice :p ) to create a good text banner for my website using Photoshop CS2?

I have created one as you can see in the URL below, but as it needs to be a transparent gif it has came out pretty poor! :(

Any help is good

This one does it for me. Bookmarked it a long time ago and have used it a couple times.

thanks for the info, i bookmarked that before. But what I was looking to do was create a new image - similar to the one i've got just now - and make the background the same as the background I have on the site.

do you have any idea how to do this in PS CS2? That is the version of PS that I am using, I have tried numerous tuts to try and create a decent looking banner, ut ATM i've got: http://www.ayrshireminis.com/

My background image for that page, and throughout my site is - http://www.ayrshireminis.com/mini/images/bg.gif - I can't see an option when creating a new image to specify a background from an image? Is this possible?

This would be great, if it saves me using a GIF and it doesn't have to be transparent?

Cheers,

open your background image and save as a pattern then when making your banner fill the background layer with the pattern.
