Hi, i have been given a JPeg image which displays a logo, that my friend has given me to be used as a background image for his site. At moment the words is close to the left, what i want to do center the words so that there is equal space both on the left and right hand side. Is there a piece of software that i can use to edit jpeg images, perhaps one of the adobe software packages e.g photoshop that will allow to be center the logo, but at the same time still retain is formatting like its quality?

The image can be found here:

Thanks

Unfortunately I can't access your logo (I get a timeout error), so some general advise:

It is hard to edit a bitmap image later - you need to alter pixel by pixel in worst case). A better solution is to create a vector-based image and then convert it into a bitmap one for Internet usage (JPEG, PNG, GIF) when needed.

In this way, you are also free in re-sizing your logo without losing quality (bitmap images can be only shrank without quality loss).

All in all, there are many image editors outside. If you look for a free but powerful one, give http://www.gimp.org/ a try.

Don't edit it. Make the page background color black and put this into the background placed slightly to the right.
