Calling from a database

I am working on a website for my wife and I that contains alot of info on the diet we are on. I want to be able to pull from the datase and display it on the webpage, except I have no clue how to do so.

If you don't have a clue then it might involve a steep learning curve.

You must know some SQL
You must have a running database(MySQL,Access)
You must have a webserver running
you must know some serverside programming language such as
JSP.PHP etc

I'd say have some one do it for you
