I had a working email for the last couple of years on our computer at work, checking the email for our website. It still recieves but refuses to send. I've seen a variety of error messages and am really quite annoyed why something that should be so simple is so hard to make work.
The twist is that I borrow a wireless internet connection from the tennants who rent the flat over our business, they're happy with this but it does mean that I'm trying to check email which originates from another provider, either my own host/website, or the tiscali account that I use at home. All will recive but won't send.
I've spent all day trying to get this to work with no results and I'm now looking for an option where I can avoid the need to involve sky in the checking and use of these external mail accounts. I know that it 'is' possible to get this to work, but we'll have similar hassle evertime our tenant changes his isp and I simply wish to go down a third party route now
What can I get thats free and will handle the processing of my mail incoming and outgoing for a couple of email addresses

please help !!

Paul.

Many ISPs will limit the outgoing mail to their server-authenticated users only. It seems your neighbors' ISP made some security changes recently.

Is there a reason your employer can't get their own internet connection??

in the early stages of making the website we became aware that there was a wireless signal in the area, and since providers of internet to business represented poor value for money and slow speeds (perhaps at the time) we decided to utilise what was already here.
Does anyone know of a third party provider for handling these emails ??

Does the email provider offer a web based GUI?

Check if the ISP blocks outbound connections on port 25. More and more ISPs are making it policy to block port 25. Mine does it too.

As far as the GUI goes, I've no idea, I can possibly find out. Regarding the ports, I'm slightly more confused since I 'think' I'm aware that I have to have a setting for incoming (which works) and a setting for outgoing mail. I've been on the website for the isp and tried all the port settings that they suggest. Also, I can't get too involved with the isp since they're borrowed from my tennant and not my own isp.
I'd much prefer an way to get these mails that does not have to involve going through the isp's mail system, do you know of anything like this, so they call it a 3rd party smtp service ?

thanks

Paul.
