Is it acceptable to use iframes anymore? I guess I'm fairly old-school in some aspects when it comes to certain design principles. Is it looked down upon to use them? If so, what would be a good alternative?

No it is not acceptable. The best alternative is server side scripting, like PHP, ASP, SSI etc.

Yeah, now days we are avoind using frame as it may affected SEO.
