Thankz in advance -Gopi Tikki 09-15-2003, 02:08 PM Hello Gopi, U can go for 1. Beginning ASP.NET 1.0 with C# by Wrox publications or 2. ASP.NET 1.0 Unleashed. i used Unleashed for ASP and Wrox book for ASP.NET. if u want i will tell u the sites which r very useful to improve yourself throritically. Good Luck. zachzach 09-15-2003, 03:57 PM asp.net is confusing PeOfEo 09-15-2003, 04:45 PM Dont get anything from greg buczek, hes terrible. I bought his book, Instant ASP.NET Applications, and most of the scripts have errors and his select, update, and incert statements use horrible syntax. I prefer vb by the way. Also how can you possibly fine asp.net confusing lol. I guess I just picked it up so easy because I knew vb for two years prior but still I can make a very powerful 'application' with asp.net with a lot less work then most of the other technologies. The viewstate for instance is automatic on asp.net which will save you a lot of work in the long run and that adds a lot of functionality that you just would not get with asp classic. zachzach 09-15-2003, 05:03 PM in general i think anything to do with asp is confusing i prob. could lear .net but i dont want to bother with paid stuff just to make it work PeOfEo 09-15-2003, 05:24 PM Also http://europe.webmatrixhosting.net is a great asp.net host if you are just learning this and not getting paid, because they are free. They are not like other free hosts, they dont have ads, allow you to use email, global.asax, and many other features because they are microsoft sponsored. They are also going to be offering asp.net commercial hosting and I am betting the price is going to be very reasonable. They also have a pretty good asp.net help forum. If you just want asp.net stuff like scripts tutorials etc, Go to the obvious www.asp.net Gopinath 09-15-2003, 11:03 PM Thank u tikki, Can u send the url for ASP.Net study material. One more help. The build-in functionality for web forms, makes slapping together a form very easy. Validation Controls really make it easy for you. Also the datagrids are very useful. And the framework which allows you to use either VB.Net or C# or C++ is very interesting. With a minimum of coding you can build very good solutions. I am a heavy user of the Bible series and ASP.Net Bible is imo a good book, which explains the basics very well. You can hit the ground running. -Rogier Doekes Sux0rZh@jc0rz 09-16-2003, 04:38 PM I have all the Unleased books (JS,ASP, ect) and they are great. PeOfEo 09-16-2003, 05:12 PM The best way to learn new tricks for asp.net is by getting a live webcast or old webcast at msdn. I learn so much from those, its like powerpoint when you watch it but it has the persons voice and recordings of their screen and stuff like that. I learned more from that in that amount of time then I have eaver learned from a book. Gopinath 09-16-2003, 10:45 PM Hi tikki, Thanq for ur response. I am waiting for ur ASP.Net material. Bye Now -Gopi webdeveloper.com
