Force Download of PDF

I need some help....

I'm trying to find a script that will force the download of a pdf from your browser. I have found a script on another site, but it only works in later version of IE and I really need it to work more universally.

Starting to think it might just not be possible.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

your problem lies in browsers default behaviour,more browsers today ecognise the pdf mime types and are configured to display them either starting up adobe acrobat reader as a separate app or in the main browser window as a plugin.

This limits your choices,there is a work around that you can adapt though.

put your *.pdf file in a zip file and for those user will shown save as dialogue.
