Hi Folks,
Im currently trying to come up with a domain name for my portfolio site.
I'm not sure wether to use my real name or a made up/ snazzy name like www.web-impulse.co.uk
Are there any implications to this?
All I want to do is get my portfolio online, but it would be good if it generates me some freelance work too. So I'm thinking very carefully about a name.
What do people think?

It isn't worth careful consideration. I don't think the name matters much. Look how much reverence a silly name like Google elicits. So long as the name is intelligible (wtfistmess.com would be unhelpful) and not profane then you'll be fine with whatever you choose.
What will make the name will be the quality of the portfolio behind it.

My current site is called www.w00tdesign.co.uk.
I'm thinking it might sound a bit immature.
I want something that sounds a bit different, and not just my name.
What do you guys think?
I like people's names in URL's, especially if it's a personal services website, rather than a design company. Names like "web impulse", to me, are about as generic as usage of stock photography.

At first I thought you said "wet impulse". :)
KDLA is right, though. You want to make your name stand out and one way to do that is to not do the cliche. When one of the restaurants I own was making up some flyers, everybody had these advertisements out that were all glitzy and neon and colorful and screaming at you how wonderful they were. So I had an ad that just showed the full size, all in black, with out logo in the center. We passed them out before lunch and all it said was "Of course, you could just get a hamburger."
We don't sell hamburger.
