Webpage on MY PC

just wonderin what are the requirements to create my webpage at my own pc and not putting the files on webhosts. and what do you called that thing:p :p :p

Open notepad, type in your (X)HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript code (since it is all client-side, no server-side coding will be processed unless you have a Web server installed on your system), save the file as a .html or .htm file, open the file in your browser.

so you mean i should have webserver in order to have webpage online. Im trying to say is that how can i make webpage online and files are on my PC. I mean other people can browse it on the net while the files are on my pc not on webhosts.

I'd actually suggest FTP, but if you want the files to be on your computer, you'll probably need to install a Web server, etc., and have a static IP and a lot of other precedures to set up the computer to always be online and send the data to users... I'm not completely sure how to do this, since I normally just purchase a Web host and domain name...

Ah ok.I also have websites from webhosts. My friend told me i should first have webserver and configure it right. then i should by the domain i want. But for now i am just configuring my webserver and dont know what is the next step. so i should learnt configuring webserver first. Well if you have some tip on configuring webserver can you help me.

If you have Windows2000, you have a server built into your computer alrdy. check out this Windows2000ServerReview (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/evaluation/features/webserver.asp).

Well, if you are looking for the actual server software, I would highly recommend Apache (http://www.apache.org)...

hmmm i have windows200 but it is unlicensed. Right now i am using windows 98 license hehehe.:p :p :p i have p3 1gig, 128 mb ram and 40 gig HD so i have many spces for my files.
