I just wanted to find out what the best software for making a gif was these days, I been making them in Jasc psp7's animation shop 3 which isnt great I got to say, while it has some nice effects for use the gif's tend to be a lil fat in size and quality can be a little speckled as well :(

Might try GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/downloads/) (free) with the animation plug-in (ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/plug-ins/v2.4/gap) package (also free).

really don't like GIMP.
stick to photoshop, it will do the job right.
if you want something strictly for gifs, try coffeecup gif animator or something like smartgifcreator, those are for making animated gifs easily

I second the GIMP recommendation... if you are having trouble creating something, try looking for a plug-in to do it, there are many:cool:

Other good program is Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/). Don't let the name fool you. I've found it so easy to use to remove background, etc., that I use it now instead of Photosop or Xara Xtreme when I want something done quickly.
