Okay, I'm trying to validate something that I uploaded and topcities added some junk tags.

Of course, because it's XHTML, it needs a DOCTYPE at the beginning.

Ugh. What do you think I can do to prevent this besides getting another host?

Try using the file upload to validate the pages. It won't validate that way, either.

You cannot maybe some sneaky PHP trick..

That is the only reason why I gave up on free hosting providers because 99.99% of them damage XHTML syntax, either way it would be better if you had external JavaScript.

If your page is xhtml then the Javascript should be:

and take your lists out of the paragraphs.

I already fixed the validation stuff offline and didn't put it in the ZIP.

No, I can't use PHP because I they don't allow it.

I'd go with a host that doesn't add things to your markup... Free hosts generally have ads, etc on your page, that does not use valid markup.

Yeah, I've noticed that. Topcities strangely adds an ending xmp tag. When I edited my stylesheet to change the border of xmps, it showed up at the top of every page. lol

I've been looking for a free host that uses correct markup but I haven't found one yet. They always have a script tag that writes the beginning of an iframe, then ends the iframe without JS. :-\ It's like they're trying to screw people up.

They're probably hoping you'll get so annoyed with it you'll upgrade to a pay service...

Hey guys. Thanks for all the um... help. I found a host that doesn't show ads or add anything messed up.
