I am developping a site with an invite-a-friend page. Now is my question. Through which adresse should I send the email when a person invites friends?

Should I use the info@adresofthesite.com or the emailadresse of the friend who invites the person?

This to make sure it gets in the Inbox and not in de spam mail.

thx

Well seeing as you are not the authoritative mail exchanger for that person you should not be sending email that supposedly is from them.

I know but it for trying to avoid that the mail is put into the spam. And also the person himself is actually sending the mail through the site.

you must have recieved such mails as 'Ronny is inviting you to join....' or Join and help Stef to ....'

That person is not sending the mail, your mail exchanger is. If you don't want your mail exchanger to be listed as a spammer don't send emails claiming to come from domains for which it is not authoritative. Any SPF conscious mail exchanger will reject these emails anyway, so they will never end up in the addressee's spam folder or inbox.

Hey Im still stuck on how to remove myself from the spam blacklist or better still checking that I am actually on it. AS I mentioned earlier Im on a VPS server hence Im sharing with other people and I presume someone has sent out a previous email which has blacklisted the rest of us users.

So my questions are:

a) How do I check if the account is blacklisted.
b) Is there a way I can remove my email from this list
c) If I was to swap servers (because I am genuinely not happy with my current one) would this fix the problem.

a) How do I check if the account is blacklisted. If the mail exchanger is blacklisted Hotmail will refuse the incoming connection, this has nothing to do with mail being sent to the junk folder though.
b) Is there a way I can remove my email from this listYes, when Hotmail rejects the connection it will tell your mail exchanger which spam database your mail exchanger is listed in. It is then up to you to take up the problem with your host and the owner of that database. This has nothing to do with mail being sent to the junk folder though.
c) If I was to swap servers (because I am genuinely not happy with my current one) would this fix the problem.Only if your current mail exchanger is really blacklisted, which has nothing to do with whether mail is being sent to the junk folder.

Yeah Id give me right arm at the moment for the mail to be delivered to junk mail because that way I could tell the user to place the email address in the favourite lists which would rectify that problem.

Unfortunately, the email is not being sent to Hotmail but is to yahoo which is rather annoying hence why I think we are blacklisted with Hotmail.

So you would suggest contacting my server company to attempt to rectify this?

I think this wont' help..

U should use info@adresofthesite.com .....with subject "Particular person invites you to join(related stuff)"...

Most companies use the sender's address, rather than the companies, so if the recipient wants to reply, they only have to hit "reply" in their email client.

What sort of business are you offering? One possible option is to just refuse to accept client sign up from email accounts you can't communicate with.

the invite page is for a competition of a company that exist 35 years
and you can win stuff.

so you can let your friends know that there is a game and you can win something
