Help with visited links

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me. I know that in html you can have a
link change color when it is visited. I have noticed at times i'll visit
a page for the first time and, it will show that links have been visited
when i've never actually been there. Do you know what causes this? Is it
"documented" somewhere that I might read on it that you know of?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not readily. Having some issues and there is a dispute over whether certain sites were visited. I've noticed it from time to time in the past on "thrown together" sites like geocities and other basic sites, you visit the site once and some/most of the links show up as visited as opposed to "clean".

The only thing I can possibly think of is if the sites in question have the same styles applied for the hover as the link or default state. Beyond that, it would require an example.
