I've not done any work on my website for a while, I've come to upload some pages that I've adjusted and when I check on google they've remained unaltered.
Thinking I'd done something wrong, I went back, sure enough the changes had been saved to the page local to my pc. I started WSftpPro again, and carefully uploaded again, I took note of the date stamp (which was already showing that it had been modified by me on that previous attempt) and tried again. I took a copy of the uploaded file (at the server end) and pasted it back onto my desktop. I could confirm that the altered page now resides on the server...... but why does the old page still show on google. I don't really understand it, it's never happened like that before

can anyone advise ??

If I was confused before... listen to this :-

I was looking over the site on google : www.cleveleyscarpetcentre.co.uk

when I arrive at the site from the search page I land on http://www.cleveleyscarpetcentre.co.uk/ ........ this page is the old page. Now, if I navigate away onto any other page then ask for the home page via a link I hit http://www.cleveleyscarpetcentre.co.uk/index.html ..... which is the new page. - I can visit both of those 'home pages' then hit the browser back and forward button to see both pages.
When I did discover that one of these pages was the updated one, I also spotted a spelling mistake, I altered this and uploaded in the usual way. When I checked back at both the pages I notice that the spelling mistake has not been altered !!!!

have I gone mad ??

It's more likely that I'm just stupid, can anyone help

((I've tried updating other pages, and they don't change either)

I have just changed my broadband for a vodafone plug in dial up device, might this have anything to do with it ?? ((although I did discover that the pages, if copied and pasted from the server side of ftp pro, ARE correct)) ....... it's as if google has got muddled up !!??

When you re-view the site after a change, hold down the Ctrl key whist clicking the refresh button - you could be viewing the browser cached version of the site, and need to force a complete reload from the server.
