Having complete nightmare with password protected pages

I tried using gatekeeper but couldn't get the dam thing to work.

basically what im trying to do is have a login box / login scipt that i can configure so that each user is sent to a specific page.

Can anybody point me in the right direction or recommend a program that is easy to configure

There's a whole lot of them at http://javascript.internet.com/passwords/. They're not totally secure though.
