Hi All,
I am new to this site but hope to stray a long while.
www.originalsymmetry.com (http://www.originalsymmetry.com) is my first website that I have created in a few years. Having been out of the 'game' for a while I had to relearn the standards including CSS and XHTML. I already had a decent understanding of PHP and MySQL so I stepped up my knowledge of this to create the portfolio site.
Hope you like, any comments welcome.

Nice looking website. Even better it's nice looking code, with a very slight amount of div-itis. Remember, just because you want to block off a certain area of the page doesn't mean you need to make a new div, you can just set use a block level element - i.e. you don't need to put div tags around you quotes at the top of every page. There isn't anything remotely wrong with you code or your page at all, I am just making a comment that might help you get back in the game with CSS and XHTML faster. ;)
As for comments on the site, it looks great, and it's really not in need of any changes. Just to play around with some things, however, try taking the background off and just have a white background, there's lots to be said for whitespace.
Great job!

Hey thanks for the reply.
As for the background, it is something I have been thinking about myself too. I changed the navbar at the top to make it more prominent, as a result it kind of took it away from the "grungy" feel the background gave but I was sitting on any changes for a while to see if it fitted in. After you pointed it out, I tried it, and yeah it looks cleaner although I'll sit on this change for a while to see how it feels in a week or so.
Thanks for your suggestions with the coding aspect of it. I'll keep it in mind on my next project. It's been a steep learning curve and many frustrating nights trying to get things to fit and lay out the way I want them to but now after having a good understanding of CSS and XHTML I feel I can now relax and let my creative ideas flow.

My first impression was simple, I didn't like the design; the quote on the first page overwhelmed me, however, the more I viewed the site the more I liked it and I have to say the quotes are actually a stroke of genius (I found myself clicking links to see the quotes  and then found myself liking your work)
Good Work :D

Hey thanks again for your comments - I'm glad you liked the quotes.
I think portfolio sites can often get static and boring and I wanted to avoid that. That is why I included the random quote generator - so every page changes and gives you something else to look at. Maybe they are a bit prominent on the page but I wanted it that way. I wanted to give people inspiration by not only looking at my work, but of the quotes of others - indeed I found them inspiring.
