Nice. Effective. The water background makes one feel 'drawn towards' the center content. I guess that it (the center content) is or exudes the 'life-preserver' effect effectively causing focus upon it despite the background being 'busy'. Good distance (for Accessibility) between html/body's background-color (the water image) and foreground's 'background-color' (white) makes this work (generally, no less than 100-points on the base-16 rbg scale, preferably, 120+ points and you clearly have that!).

In my opion the content area is a little too narrow.

Good point re: width of content. I assume you view on 1024. On 800width, it is very nice. I view with 1024.
If this were a percentage width, like, 75% and centered, yes, this would be a plus.

I view it at 1280 x 800 and its a little to narrow in my opinion
