uploading my site to server

hi,

Please i have a problem getting my uploaded site running on the server. I use my FTP software to transfer the whole site and just as they were in my local site thats how i transfer them to the remote server. But it only display a directory something like INDEX OF/ CGI BIB INDEX POSTINFO.HTML. Do i have a problem copying the index file to the right place?

Please any quick response will be appreciated.
