sometimes posts contain flag words, lots of links, etc. that pull them into our moderation queue. assuming they aren't spam, they'll be visible as soon as a moderator approves them.

It depends when you post. If you post in the middle of the night (GMT minus five) it might take a while. Normally it only takes a few minutes

It was quite weird...posted something in IE and it never showed up..posted something in firefox...posted straight away.

Moral of the story...Uninstall IE.

While I might tend to agree with using FF instead of IE, that wasn't the case here.

mine always seem to go instantly... but they also never contain links (with few exceptions) or shady language.

It's also because you are a new member. Brand new members have all their posts join the queue. Whereas dtm32236 is an older member so they go straight to the forum. Minimises spam.
