Thanks Daria 10-02-2003, 09:05 AM Choppy edges are fine if you just want to make it a transparent gif for smaller size, but still use with the dark background. So, my clear-up question is: Do you want it to be compatible with the white/light background? jrthor2 10-02-2003, 09:08 AM I would like o make it transparent so I can use on multiple backgrounds, of light/white color. havik 10-02-2003, 10:37 AM Photoshop 7 has the option of selecting colors. I'm at work and therefore away from photoshop, but I believe that it's under the "Select" menu (could also be "view"). You can select any color and even the strength, so that not all the black is selected. Play around with this and see what you can do. Even if it selects some black with the "Luther" word, you could easily de-select these areas. Havik jrthor2 10-02-2003, 11:44 AM I tried the Selct->Color Range option, but that doesn't do any better than using the magic wand tool, unless you can get it better. Compguy Pete 10-02-2003, 07:11 PM Your best bet would be to recreate it in Illustrator or Freehand. It would take a lot longer to play with this image in Photoshop, when in half the time you could have a full Vector version in any other program. havik 10-02-2003, 09:54 PM Here's what I did to remove the background: Load image 1. Select menu, then chose color range 2. The color range menu will pop up. With the image in the background, move cursor over black background. The cursor will switch to an eyedropper. Left-click on the background. (this makes sure you have black as the selected color range) 3. In the color range menu, set the fuzziness to somewhere between 20 to 30%. Play around with the fuzziness level and you'll find one you like. Select ok. 4. The image will be selected roughly around all the text. Press delete and deselect the area. 5. It'll be quite rough around the edges, but zoom in and use an eraser. If you want the image transparent, you'll need to switch it to a gif image, as jpeg's can't have transparent backgrounds (at least photoshop 7 won't allow it if it is possible) Hope this helps Havik Compguy Pete 10-02-2003, 10:05 PM It's still not possible to make JPG's have a transparent area. jrthor2 10-03-2003, 08:26 AM I would recreate it, but I don't know what fonts were used. Can you tell me what they are?? This is an image I received. MotherNatrsSon 10-05-2003, 08:06 PM Go to this link and upload your image. It will match the font for you or give a list of alternatives. http://www.identifont.com/ MNS jrthor2 10-05-2003, 09:01 PM Where do you upload your image? The only thing Ican find is where you answer a bunch of questions. Thanks wooze 10-09-2003, 02:06 AM Try this - i did it and the results arent too bad... 1. duplicate the layer (for safe keeping) 2. draw a path around the letters 3. make the path a selection and apply a layer mask 4. retype the other text (copperplate gothic) 5. put a coloured layer over the original background to see the results... 6. If not happy - go back to the layer mask and remove or add pixels as desired. Hope this helps. ;) jrthor2 10-09-2003, 08:42 AM How do you draw a path around the letters?? I haven't used paths before. zaefod 10-09-2003, 03:27 PM draw your path with the pen tool. you may want to open a new file and play with the tool to get a feel for it first. If it's giving you a hard time you might search the web for bezier curve tutorials. wooze 10-10-2003, 12:49 AM Follow this link if you want to download the file that i had a quick play with... http://www.justifiedtype.com/luther.psd It should just allow you to download the file. Have a look at the file, on the layers pallete, click the path tab and you will see the path i have made and can alter it with the pen tool. Good luck. ;) jrthor2 10-15-2003, 03:20 PM that is very good, but there si nothing on the paths tab??? webdeveloper.com
