or put a message, so that people typing long messages won't have it lost.

this happened to me, and then i went back but the page wouldn't load. there was no way i could get back to it

The timeout is 15 minutes, that should be more than enough time to type anything. Additionally, if you check remember me when logging in you won't be logged out no matter what
