Counting image hits?

Hi - i was wondering if it would be possible to count the amount of times that an image is loaded up/shown externally/ locally. is there a website that can do this for me? (free or pay). the image is on a php enabled server... not sure if that helps? if i could have some kind of script to count? meh.

any ideas?

Do you have access to the sites stats reporting? That would be the quickest way to check.

Next if you have any data on howmany times the page was loaded that would also clue you into the amount of times it's been looked at.

good idea - but the image is mostly displayed in different forum signatures. a page stat/counter wouldn't really help i don't think... what would happen if i set, for example, the image.gif as my home page at (for example), thecounter.com?

i shouldn't imagine that there would be an easy/medium way to do what i'm trying... :(
any ideas are still appreciated.
