I have been asked by a friend of mine to create a simple HTML website with photographs of his shop.

Can someone please advise as to which Digital Camera would be suitable to use?

There are so many on the market at the moment!!

Obviously the camera has to be reasonably priced and it will need a USB connection so i can upload the photos on to my PC.

I hope someone can help?

Thanks in advance.

If you just taking photo's for the web a 2 megapixel camera should be just fine.

Since photo's with a 3megapixel or higher cameral would end up being about the same quality once you made it small enough for use on the internet.

So I would look for a mid range 2.0 megapixel camera. A 3megapixel if it's in your price range.

I'd agree on 2 megapixels. What country are you in? maybe someone knows a good pc shop near you...

My 2cts:

Consider your choices carefully. Even a 2mgpx camera will cost you a fair amount of money, and it probably won't take very satisfying pictures. Also, it won't have much in the way of features. In other words, it will probably be point-and-shoot.

If you shop carefully, and you can spend a little more money, look for something in the 3-4mgpx range. You will find trade-offs between lens quality and/or capabilities (zoom factor, macro range, etc.), image resolution and other technical features like manual controls, thru-the-lens viewing, etc. In the long run, if you like taking pictures or will have the need to take pictures often, you'll be much happier with the more upscale camera.

On the other hand, if you don't have much money to spend, I'd also suggest you consider taking 35mm shots & scanning them in. You'll end up with the same quality image in the end as you'd get with a 2mgpx camera.
