Hello,

I've created a slideshow of a few pictures in flash, with a next/previous button that works great. At the moment I've got the fps set to 0.25 so the photos cycle through themselves and you can go through them manually using the buttons.

What I want now is the photos to fade in and out instead of just switching automatically. I still want to be able to move manually using the arrows, but if left alone the slideshow should slowly move from picture to picture.

I'm a beginner to flash so advice on how to do this would be really appreciated.

Thanks

The transition is usually done by using two movie clips, one to hold the first image and then a second one to hold the second image. By changing the position (from one in front of the other) or the alpha (transparency), one image can fade out or into another. You can also incorporate an xml file which will serve as a playlist of the photos to display.
It will take a little coding in ActionScript but it’s pretty basic stuff.
Some good tutorials are at:

Or Google for a Flash slide show… tons of them out there.
