Hi,

Just a follow up on : http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188739

I tried on one of my sites to register most pages on social bookmarking tools, to see if there was any effect.
Many tools were not using 'rel=nofollow' before so it was bringing anchored links, but now it seems that most of them are actually using nofollow links everywhere, so social bookmarking remains a great tool to get traffic to blog article of some specific pages, but not for strictly SEO purposes.

I'll keep searching for tools which don't use rel=nofollow when I'll find some time :)

Interesting. So its following the Blog approach.

Do you use firefox SEO Tools plugin?. This will easily show which sites have no follow and which don't.

Kind regards
Neil

blogmark, diigo, swik, digg ... provide 'Do Follow' links.

since it's really fast to add a few social bookmarks after you added a new page on your site that's good to take, but you won't bring your site at the top only by doing this.

I use SEO for Firefox (on firefox3) but I don't turn it on often ... It's great to check nofollow links.

It could be possible that search engines pass TRUST RANK, but do not pass PAGE RANK ( which has no relationship your rankings).

Trust rank is something which is decided by looking at various aspects of your website rather than how many back links you have pointing back to your main website. Read about the difference between page rank and trust rank at : http://blog.seohawk.com/page-rank-vs-trust-rank/

I am sure Google will not ignore rel="nofollow" if you are getting back links from a high ranking website like wikipedia. ;)
