Hi all

I did some major changes recently on my website and I would like to know your opinion on the looks - what is good, what can be improved or better be removed.

http://www.swiss-outdoor.ch/hiking/chruezlipass.php is one of the pages which was fully upgraded.

Looking forward to your replies.

thanks!
erik

Photos are great. I'd like to see the menus on either side run to the bottom of the main div.

The page looks good, you might want to place more room between each section of pictures.
and the description under the pictures makes the following lines look way to cluttered.

You need to center your content, fellow Swiss :) No need to have it all cluttered on the left side of the brower page.
And also... too much blue kills the blue ! The cloud background is especially "cheap-looking". Why not a monochromatic background ? (blue, I guess, since I don't really know which other color you could use)
The picture of the Alps on top of the page is nice, but lacks contrast. (I guess it's not so easy to find, but more sun would be good)
You also need to have some contrasting colors on your page. (and I'm not talking about the red-brown color of the links)
I would try to go with a white inner background, darker shade of blue page background, some nice orange or any warm color titles.
Some nice color swatches you could inspire yourself from :

http://www.colorcombos.com/color-scheme-215.html
http://www.colorcombos.com/color-scheme-124.html
(the latter one is a bit too much on the pastel side. You would need to brighten up the blues, and give this sandy shade some strenght)

Thanks a lot for your input.

Crap, I was sure the cloud background is a great idea :) But I know my design skills are very insufficient... I keep trying. Ill be working on it this weekend, maybe you can check back later.

One thing right away, centering a page with css lets it jump to the side when navigating without scrollbar to a page which has a vertical scrollbar or vice versa. Is there any way to prevent that?

Euh... sorry, didn't understand a word about your centering problem.

oh sorry
see, I am was using css to center the whole content of the site. Now, there are pages which fit perfectly on the vertical scale, others don't and you need to scroll vertically. Browsers like FF3 or Chrome do not show the scrollbar on the right on pages which do not need it, so the whole content jumps right/left if you switch between a page that fits and one that doesn't, which I don't like. Is there anything to be done about that?

No, I don't think so. But that's not so important, is it ?
