How many web forum are there?

I have been searching for long through the google and yahoo to know the number of web forums. I need your help and i don't know any where to search more about it. I just want to the number of web forums are there? and how many kind of forums in those web forums?

There are probably new forums being created more quickly than you could count the existing ones and so if you start counting now you will gradually have counted a smaller and smaller percentage of the total.

Oh, can you estimate number of web forums? According to NetCraft.com, I know that there are more than 100 million web sites, but I don't know the number of web forums inside those web sites.
I just want some references to do my assignment that I'm searching about web forums. Please help.:(

What if you also consider into that all the news groups and listservs that are still around today. You would find that the number is fairly large.
