For basic stuff:

http://www.w3schools.org

For more advanced stuff, you may want to look at some books from Sitepoint, they tend to be relatively straight forward and easy to read and understand.

Or all else fails, Google.

http://webdesign.about.com has some HTML tutorials that are far more up to date than the ones on the W3Schools site (which appears to have not been kept up to date in recent years).

Hi

I know some books that can surely help you.
1. Learning Web Design: A Beginner's Guide to (X)HTML, StyleSheets, and Web Graphics by Jennifer Niederst Robbins and Aaron Gustafson.
2. The Principles of Beautiful Web Design by Jason Beaird.
3. Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML by Eric Freeman and Elisabeth Freeman

Thanks
