multimedia technologies

Hi all

I got newly appointed to a project which should display an animated graphical items in browsers, which should be interactive for the user.
I am looking for the best technology to achieve this. But first I need an overview of available technologies. I know about flash, svg or sliverlight.
Is there other technology around which I am unaware of? please advice.
