I submitted a problem earlier but can't find it, sorry if this is a duplicate.
I am having serious problems with a script for a java drop menu called Cascade Menu. I am designing in MS Frontpage 2002 and on the "preview" mode I can view it beautifully, on the "normal" mode (the mode I need to design), the menu items display all over the page....???? what is that? Also, the menu itself is positioned exactly where I want it, but once the mouse goes over, the submenus go all over the place. Please take a look at www.partytimeprinting.com/home.htm
PLEASE HELP!!

I have never worked with MSN WYSIWYG or any other,but I can tell 1 thing for sure your problem is in the function
ShowMenu(obj)

work with these lines

menu.style.pixelTop = obj.getBoundingClientRect().top + obj.offsetHeight + Bdy.scrollTop
menu.style.pixelLeft = obj.getBoundingClientRect().left + Bdy.scrollLeft

it should not be big problem,you only need to place them at a right place,
and in your CSS .menu class
add this line
position:absolute;

you are using MSN specific functions,therefor, I can't help u.My be some one else will even correct the code for u

good luck

Khalid,
Funny that you responded, I was hoping you would after reading many of your previous help to others....BUT YOU CAN'T HELP ME??? Ha ha ha. Is there just a general script for a java drop down that can be viewed by many & most? This has been the worst project...

My friend I can help you when it comes to JavaScript,but your problem is that the x and y xoordinates are being accessed using MSN specific methods.
And your code is completely MSN Browser specific.
Think about it.
I am looking into it though

None of us get paid to sit around here and answer any questions that you might have about scripts that we've probably never seen or heard of.

You may want to look into this menu. I have used it in the past and it worked well.

Oh wait.....I was really only trying to make a smile, no problems were intended. If you look, I was only giving him a compliment, I never implied that anyone was sitting here waiting to answer questions. Again, I apologize, it's just with my luck that I have had on this script, and after everything I heard about this site, it's only par for the course that I can't fix it.........I'm just a girl trying to make a buck....ha ha ha

I understand how it can get frusterating when you can't get a script to work.

Have you taken a look at the one that I posted? You'd be far better off using one that is cross-browser anyway...

Oh yeah, tried that one, I even had the "creator" email me the latest 9.10 V
There was about 10 files that I had to upload and I don't know if I need singlepage_var.js, horizontalpage_var, relativepositioned_var...........etc...

This is the only thing left that I have to do.........
I just want to scream.....

Boy do I enjoy and appreciate your time.....I have already downloaded it, changed variables and it looked beautiful but most of our clients (50/50) are using IMacs and they could not view it on their computers. Now I have the same menu, just the new version....UUUUGGGHH!

<crossing fingers>
Again, MANY THANKS! I can't even begin to say how pleased I am, even if it doesn't work, but that there is a place where people really do care.....is that corny? I am SO SURE that I will be back (in about 2 hours) with another problem.....Hurry, sign off! Just kidding.

Me again....
In MS Frontpage (oh by the way, the script worked beautifully!), I can view it on "preview" mode which is what it looks like online. On "normal" mode all of the submenus are listed down the left hand side of the page. How do I remove those so that I can finish designing, without deleting the menu itself? This is kind of a must because I can't design the page with all the text running down the side.......

As I mentioned in my last post in this thread,I have put a line of comment in CSS file take it out,because it was only there to let you know where to make changes if you wanted to move your menu around in a page.

remember to change values in margin-left and margin-top properties of the css class
.menuBar.

Just one thing I thought I'd point out. This doesn't work in NN7 or Opera 7...

By the way, well done, Kahlid. :)

NN7 and Opera 7, are they popular? Myself, a "she" is not a novice at this, please excuse me being naive. I really need assistance.:(

The cascade menu works and looks great...I just need customers to be able to view it. If they cannot, how will they navigate the site? I only use MS Frontpage because that is all I know and it was referred to me as "the best." I know, it's not. Again, thanks, both of you, for your help in this!!

hee hee, did I use the word "novice" incorrectly?

By coding only for IE, you will probably be turning away about 10% of your visitors. Worth it? I don't think so... I always check my code in IE6, NN7, Opera 7 and sometime IE4 or NN4.

This is really getting to be a headache.......seriously....what do I do? 10% is not that much, however, it could be.....I just want something simple, is that really asking to much? UUUGGHHHH! How does Microsoft do it with thier navigation......it's simple, and yet everyone can view and use it.....

Actually...

Micro$oft's menu doesn't drop down in NN7, the site was just built so it degrades gracefully, and isn't necessary to navigate the site.
