I Flirt 4 Code
10-13-2003, 01:43 PM
I have to make a button or a logo to pass this class and the simple truth is I can't do crap with this program. Their way of teaching it is, here is a book, there is photoshop, go learn. Now I know a lot of you out there are self taught but I simply can't learn it that way. I know I have tried several graphics programs over the years and I am hopeless at it. But now I am in school and they are making me learn it to be "well rounded". If I had any interest in graphics I would have chosen that and not programming!
I am even have trouble following the step by step tutorials.Most of them aren't so good and assume you know how to use photoshop already. So what I need is the most simple tutorial that you know of for a button or banner or logo I can throw on my web site, and pass this class and never use this stuff again LOL.
And it's not that I am not a creative person either. I do crafts all the time and draw and write and paint. I guess I am just a hands on person and need to feel the brush in my hand.
Anyway I would love any help you can give me. as I am going to flunk this course and lose all my student loans if you don't!

I've used many tutorials from this page in past. Very professional looking buttons.

Here is one I got from a site..

[Step 1]
Start with a new file with 400x70. Background is white.
Go to Filter->Render-Clouds.
Now go to Filter->Pixellate->Mezzotint, and select Short Lines.

[Step 2]
Now go to Filter->Blur->Motion Blur, Angle=0,
Distance=71. Now go to Filter->Noise->
Median, Radius=7.

[Step 3]
Now press ctrl+u, tick "colorize", and select
a nice color, I chose red. Now go to Filter->Blur->
Gaussian Blur, Radius=3.0.

[Step 4]
Go to Filter->Render->Lens Flare, Brightness=100,
105 mm Prime. Do it again, but now with the
50-300 mm Prime.

Hope this helps
