I'm trying to find a script or applet for my site. I would think it should be somewhat easy, but not certain how to word it right for a Google search.

In a nutshell I run a Paranormal & UFO site with various text stories. I want the ability to show new stories I've uploaded with some type of indicator saying that it's new, and maybe display that message for a week to 10 days.

What would I look for to enter it in a search? Or is there something out there I can use?

I'm pretty decent with HTML, I've created many sites and a few eCommerce sites that are all functioning perfectly. My site included. I just want to be able to identify new stories.

How are the stories stored and do you have any server side scripting experience? Say PHP, ASP, Java (not JavaScript), etc.

There are plenty of server side scripts around that can do that. It is just a matter of finding one in a language that your hosting supports.
